Louise Simmonds

I am a Registered Midwife and started my career in the Nursing world qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 1988, once qualified I worked in Coronary Care and Vascular Surgery.

In 1991 I embarked on my Midwifery training at St Helier Hospital and qualified after 18 months in 1992. Since then I have worked thought out the Women’s Health department from delivery suite  and Maternity wards, to being the Sure Start Midwife setting up a baby café and providing antenatal and postnatal care for outreach vulnerable women. In additional I achieved training qualifications in Diabetes and High risk pregnancy.

In 1991 worked along side a Consultant in setting up the Early Pregnancy Unit and cared and supported women who had suffered a miscarriage.  This is where I originally started to develop my knowledge in recurrent miscarriage and my commitment to give the best care and emotional support to these women.

As the Maternal Medicine Midwife over the last two years I have worked with Mr Hassan Shehata in the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic at St Helier, developing a support system and leaflets to help women with their treatment plan.

On the 29th November I started working in the Private sector with Mr Shehata so ensuring you have good communication and support throught out your treatment and to give midwifery evidence based advice and care to all, whether undergoing IVF, recurrent Miscarriage or pregnancy.

I am a mother of two boys, William aged 13 yrs and Freddie 9 years so in my free time I’m running from football grounds with Freddie to lakes watching Will sail.

I hope you find the website helpful and please contact the Miscarriage Clinic if any queries.
