The Centre for Reproductive Immunology and Pregnancy (CRP) is a specialist clinic offering care to women with high-risk pregnancies. The centre offers women specialist advice from experts in the field to allow for an individualized management of their pregnancy to improve pregnancy outcomes.

The CRP Clinic offers a variety of specialist care packages for pregnant mothers ranging from private antenatal care, private delivery and postnatal care. The specialist antenatal care is supported by a range of screening tests to assess the risk for pregnancy complications to allow mothers to have a plan of care that is specific for their pregnancy.

The Antenatal Care Package

The complete antenatal care package includes 5 appointments with your consultant obstetrician, 3 appointments with your midwife, 5 ultrasound scans and 2 sets of complete blood tests during the pregnancy.

The antenatal care package starts with an initial appointment with detailed discussion about your medical and pregnancy history. This initial appointment is supported by a viability ultrasound scan to ensure the pregnancy is developing normally. It includes a complete package of blood tests at the beginning of the pregnancy to allow assessment of mother’s well-being and risk for common problems.

The antenatal care plan includes a risk assessment for common pregnancy complications such as chromosomal abnormalities (such as Down’s syndrome), problems with baby’s development, premature birth, preeclampsia (high-blood pressure in pregnancy) and diabetes in pregnancy.

The package will include a minimum of 5 Fetal Medicine scans during the entire pregnancy beginning with a 11-13 weeks’ scan through to the end of the pregnancy with a scan at 35-37 weeks to assess the baby’s growth and well-being in the last few weeks prior to delivery.

The antenatal care will be supported by visits not just with the Consultant obstetrician but also with a specialist midwife who will provide you with reassurance, advise and support during the pregnancy. Additional appointments or ultrasound scans not included in the package can be supported depending on individual needs.

The Delivery Care package

Mothers choosing to have private deliveries will be supported with specialist advice regarding an appropriate timing and mode of delivery depending on their medical and pregnancy history.

The delivery will be carried out by your Consultant Obstetrician to ensure a seamless pathway of care from antenatal through to delivery. The care for deliveries can be facilitated at Epsom Hospital or the Portland Hospital, depending on your preference.

The Postnatal Care

The care of mothers after delivery is a part of the delivery care package. However, you can choose an enhanced after-care package which includes 3 home visits by our experienced specialist midwife whom you have met during your pregnancy. The postnatal care package also includes a 6-week postnatal appointment with your Consultant Obstetrician, which is at no extra cost.

The pregnancy Care Team

The Consultant appointments for private antenatal care and deliveries at the CRP clinic are offered by Mr Hassan Shehata and Professor Ranjit Akolekar, both of whom are experts in managing high-risk pregnancies.

Mr Hassan Shehata, who leads the clinic, is an experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with specialist qualifications in management of mothers with a history of recurrent miscarriages and medical disorders in pregnancy.

Professor Ranjit Akolekar is a sub-specialist Consultant in Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics who offers mothers with high-risk pregnancies specialised care supported by expert ultrasound scans during the pregnancy.

The team also includes a specialist midwife, who will provide advice and support in one-to-one appointments.

Private Obstetric Package costs

The antenatal care package will cost approximately 4,200 £ which includes 5 appointments with your Consultant Obstetrician, 3 appointments with your specialist midwife, 5 ultrasound scans, all blood tests and screening tests for pregnancy complications during your pregnancy.

The delivery care package will cost approximately 3,500 to 4,000£ depending on your medical and pregnancy problems, type of delivery and location of service delivery.

The postnatal care package with your Consultant Obstetrician is included in the above cost but you could choose the enhanced package which includes 3 home-visits by our specialist midwife and this is costed at approximately £1,000.

All above costs are approximate and may vary depending on your medical needs and individual circumstances. Appointments and additional tests over and above these care packages will be supported and charged separately.

Please note that most insurance companies do not cover pregnancy care unless there is a significant complication (such as Caesarean section), and even then they will only cover a portion of the total fee. You should discuss details with your insurance company. We would request that 50% of costs should be paid at booking, 25% at 28 weeks and the remainder 25% after delivery. Full payment in advance will be requested for non-UK residents.
